Technical Specs:
1 --- Grain
The grain plays a main part in grinding: There are two major kinds of conventional grains:
aluminium oxide and silicon carbide.
Grain
symbol
Application
Brown Aluminium
Oxide
A
(GZ)
For operations on metals of high - tensile strength such as carbon steels, common alloyed steel,
hard bronze and malleable cast iron etc.
White Aluminium
oxide
WA
(GB)
For finishing alloyed steel, hardened steel and tool steel.
Monocrystalline
Aluminium oxide
SA
(GD)
For high toughness and better cutting ability. suitable for grinding very hard and tough materials,
such as stainless steel, high vanadium high speed steel.
Microcrystalline
Aluminium oxide
MA
(GW)
For grinding stainless steel, special nodular cast iron or for mirror finish grinding.
chromium
Aluminium oxide
PA
(GG)
For tool and internal grinding or for precision and high finish surface grinding.
Black
Silicon Carbide
CC
(TH)
For operations on metals and nonmetal matenals of low tensile strength such as grey cast iron,
brass, leather, hard rubber and so on.
Green Silicon Carbide
GC
(TL)
Suitable for cemented carbide and glass.

2 --- Grain Size
The term "grain size" means the size of abrasive particles and is to be chosen depending on the
required accuracy, surface finish of the work to be ground and production efficiency. According
to China National Standard GB2477 -- 83 the grain size is subdivided into four groups. Grain,
powder, micropowder and fine micropowder.

3 --- Hardness Grade
The grade means the degree of difficulty for the abrasive grain on the tool's surface to be pulled
out by grinding force. They grains is easy to be pulled out shows lower grade, conversely it shows
higher grade. The abrasive tools made China fall into 7 major grades and 14 detailed grades.
The hardness of the material to be ground determines the choice of the abrasive tool's grade.
Besides, some supplementary factors should be considered simultaneously, such as the contact
area between the abrasive tool and the workpiece, workpiece shape, grinding methods, cooling
measures, abrasive bond type, etc.........

4 --- Structure
The grinding tool is composed of grinding grain, bond and voids. Structure is the proportion by volume
of these three components, and the structure classifications are determined by the grain percentage.
The larger the percentage taken by the grains, the denser the structure is, and vice versa.
